STALKING KNIVES FOR SALE -

ON HOLD EMBERLEAF KNIVES. "CAEL".

Since their conception, Emberleaf have taken the UK knife industry by storm, offering well thought out and unique designs in contempory materials. Now firmly establised, they are also the 'go to' knifemaker for none other than Ray Mears ! This particular knife is from 2018 but according to the seller has recently been back to Emberleaf for a refurb and sharpening. AEB-L steel with a stablised Blue Poplar handle and Corby bolts. Blade: 4 inches. Oal: 8-3/4 inches. Complete with original sheath and box + papers. Very good condition. £375 inc. UK p&p.

SOLD PAT MITCHELL KNIVES. SHEFFIELD.  "RABBIT KNIFE".

Despite not having the 'Pat Mitchell' logo, this lovely little knife was made by Pat Mitchell Knives in their Portland St. workshop. Stuart Mitchell confirmed to me that his Dad made a range of knives for a Gamekeeper associate, tasked with looking after Partridges, hence the logo. This particular knife was obviously aimed at the 'Rabbiter' as shown by the nicely executed quality sheath. The handle appears to be Yew with brass fittings and the steel has one or two very minor spots of tarnish. Blade: 2-5/8 inches. Oal: 6-1/4 inches. Complete with original sheath.

Excellent , unused condition.

ON HOLD STUART MITCHELL. "P1" ?

A lovely knife from Stuart that is reminiscent of the P1 knife from the Portland Series of 'Pat Mitchell Knives' fame. Made from Stuart's trademark SF100 steel, with a handle of Walnut and s/steel fittings. This knife has seen light use (it shows faint scratches on one side of the blade) but has many years of use left in it. Blade: 2-3/4 inches. Oal: 6-3/4 inches. Complete with a very well made leather 'Calvary' style sheath.

Excellent condition. £195 inc. UK p&p.

SOLD PUMA. SOLINGEN. "BAYERNMESSER".

While, strictly speaking, this is classed as a 'Boot Knife' the style and shape of the blade - along with the Stag handle - would suggest this model is equally suited to field sports and the great outdoors in general.

This is an early stainless steel example and is also marked on the blade as Handmade. Blade: 4-1/2 inches. Oal: 9 inches. Complete with original leather pocket sheath, with n/silver fittings.

Good condition. £125 inc. UK p&p.

EDF. NETHERLANDS. "HUNTER".

Please email for details.

Excellent condition. £195 inc. UK p&p.

GUY STAINTHORP. "STALKER".

Please email for details. Complete with a kydex sheath

Excellent condition. New price: £215 inc. UK p&p

SOLD A.G.RUSSELL. USA. "3 PIECE STAG HUNTER".

A stunning looking knife from one of the Giants of the Knifeworld, A.G. Russell who passed away in 2018. In the 1970's and onwards, he was the driving force in promoting knife collecting and in the process resurrected Morseth Knives which also played a large part in the career of Bob Dozier.

I would guess this particular knife was made in the late 1980's-early 1990's and follows the traditional Morseth knives in design. The 3-piece Sambar stag is lovely and of a quality rarely available today. The nickel silver guard shows some tarnish where it has reacted to being kept in the leather sheath (but could be restored without too much effort).

Blade: 3-1/2 inches. Oal: 7-3/4 inches. Complete with original sheath.

Nr. mint, unused condition.

SOLD ALAN WOOD. "STALKER+RIPPER SET".

Another of these highly regarded Sets from Alan, this example being slightly older and handled in English Giraffe Bone (heaven knows where he sourced that from!). Set off by red liners and s/steel fittings this is an unique Set indeed. Stalker(12c27 steel) blade:4-3/4 inches. Oal:9-1/4 inches. Ripper(RWL34 steel) blade:3 inches. Oal:7 inches. Complete with original sheath, also made by Alan, and guarantee card.

Mint, unused condition.

DENNIS HOLLAND. "SKINNER-UTILITY".

A name from the infancy of British Knifemaking, when you could probably count the number of knifemakers on one hand ! One must also remember that the materials needed for knifemaking were not nearly as availabe as they are today and that knowledge was gained from 'trial and error' or what few American books were in print at the time (no YouTube !!). Although Dennis's designs may not have stood the test of time, there is no doubting the high quality of his work as shown by this knife. The steel appears to be D2 (a popular choice at the time) and the handle may be Walnut ? The blade shows multiple very light scratches although the edge seems original. Complete with a well made leather sheath, original to the knife. Very good condition. £275 inc. UK p&p.

NIETA. SPAIN. "GLOBETROTTER"..

Made from Nieta's own AN-58 stainless steel with a Bocote wood handle, this is a very nicely made knife for not a lot of money. Blade: 3-1/2 inches. Oal: 8-1/4 inches. Complete with original sheath which shows one or two handling marks. NOS (new, old stock ). £55 inc. UK p&p.

SOLD MR. ITOU. JAPAN. "DROP POINT HUNTER".

I am very happy to have two knives in my Collection from this superb Japanese Maker. Now approaching 84 years of age, Mr. Itou knives will become harder to acquire and this is a rare chance to buy one. Famous for his custom R2 Forged Damascus steel, these knives will cut as good as they look. This is a large knife, possibly suited to the larger species, but really just a gem of a knife to own (and use!). Blade: 5-1/4 inches. Oal: 10-1/2 inches. Handled in Premium Desert Ironwood with n/silver fittings, I cannot see any buyer being disappointed with this knife. Complete with Tooled leather sheath on a metal swivel.

Nr. Mint, unused condition. £495 inc. UK p&p

ALAN WOOD. "MINI HUNTER".

Next to the Woodlore, this is Alan's most recognisable knife design. This particular example has been mirror polished by Alan and is the first time I have seen this particular finish applied to a MH - and it looks stunning. Set off by an 'Ivory' Micarta handle with red liners and s/steel fittings. Completing the package is a 'textured' leather sheath also made by Alan. This is a pre-owned knife and the sheath shows signs of it being worn but the knife appears unused. Nr. Mint condition. £365 inc. UK p&p.

STUART MITCHELL. "POLARIS".

I am told by the seller that this is the Prototype model for what became known as the Secare. 5mm RWL34 s/steel with green G10 scales and G10 orange spacers. Blade: 4-3/4 inches. Oal: 9-1/2 inches. Complete with a very good brown leather sheath made by Knifemaker, Rob Evans. This is a substantial knife that will last a lifetime (or two!)

Very good condition. £325 inc. UK p&p.

ALAN WOOD. "STALKING SET".

A classic Set from Alan. Alan doesn't make many of these and they are highly regarded. This particular Set is handled in 'Maple' Richlite (a very durable paper composite) and 12c27 for the 'Big' knife with AEB-L for the Ripper. Both with s/steel fittings. 'Big' knife: 4-1/4 inches. Oal: 9 inches. Ripper: 3-1/4 inches. Oal: 7-1/2 inches. Complete with double sheath made by Alan. New from Maker. £585 inc. UK p&p.

ON HOLD STUART MITCHELL. "TRAPPER".

An earlier knife by Stu, as borne out by the lovely Sambar Stag on the handle, the like of which is so hard to come by these days. Perhaps a more specialised design more suited to the larger species, but I'm sure whoever buys this will get a lot of pleasure out of using it. Blade: 4-1/2 inches. Oal: 9-1/2 inches. Steel is 12c27 stainless. Complete with it's original brown leather belt sheath.

Excellent condition. £290 inc. UK p&p.

STUART MITCHELL. "SKINNER".

What a handful of a knife this is ! This may be a custom order as I've never seen this model in this size before. Even if the knife is not custom, then the sheath certainly is. Superb leatherwork with a hand tooled front and the option to remove the swivel loop at the rear. The blade is RWL34 premium s/steel with a nicely figured handle of Desert ironwood. A '1st Class' package all the way. Blade: 4 inches (1-5/8 inches depth). Oal: 8-5/8 inches. The blade shows signs of being sharpened.

Very good condition. £310 inc. UK p&p.

ALAN WOOD. "STRETCHED RUSTIC".

The Rustic model originated with both feet firmly planted in the Bushcraft camp, complete with a Scandi grind, so it is unusual to see Alan make this model with a hollow grind and a slightly longer handle. Not only that, but Alan has used premium RWL34 s/steel with a handle of Chital Antler (with red G10 liners) making for top quality, no nonsense straight handled working knife. Blade: 3-1/2 inches. Oal: 7-7/8 inches. Complete with original sheath.  Brand new from Maker. £425 inc. UK p&p.

HUBERTUS. SOLINGEN. "ETCHED FIXED BLADE".

Discontinued model. More details added asap.

HOCHSTIEN. HUNGARY. "ENGRAVED DROP POINT".

Stunning quality- Snakewood handle. Mint, unused cond.

NEW PRICE: £300 inc. UK p&p.

HOCHSTEIN. HUNGARY. "ENGRAVED DROP POINT".

As a knife that was part of a collection I recently bought, I have to confess that I know very little about this maker - other than he certainly knows how to craft a knife ! Hafted in Wild Boar tusk and with stunning deep engraved scroll work on both sides of the blade, this knife is very European in flavour but epitomizes 'Pride of Ownership'. The s/steel guard is very well fitted and if this knife does not sell, I could well be tempted to keep it for my own use. Complete with original 'deep seated' brown leather pouch sheath. Blade:85mm Oal:185mm.

Excellent, unused condition. NEW PRICE: £300 inc. UK p&p.

R.O.EASLER. USA. (Deceased). "LOVELESS Style DROP POINT".

A very well respected and reknowned Maker, who was a member of the Knifemaker's Guild, so you know the standard of his work is going to be high. This particular model appears to be based of Bob's (Loveless) classic Dropped Hunter, although with a shorter blade and, as such, is more idealy suited to this 'side of the pond' where the species tend to be smaller. The steel is stainless with a s/steel guard and fittings, and a dark wood handle (which has a very small crack near the thong hole) on maroon liners. Blade: 3-1/2 inches. Oal: 8-1/2 inches.

This knife has been used - and that shows on the blade - but still has many years of life left in it. Complete with original sheath, also made by Russell. Good condition. £195 inc. UK p&p.

BUCK KNIVES. USA. "Vintage BUCK 119".

A stunning example of this well known knife. Still in production - confirming just how popular this model is - this particular knife actually dates from 1990, when a stag handle was an extra cost option. No longer offered as a handle option, this would be a great buy for the stalker who enjoys using this knife but would like a deluxe version (to the envy of his fellow shooters). Now becoming very collectable over in the US.

Mint, unused condition. NEW PRICE: £225 inc. UK p&p.

RUFFIN JOHNSON. USA. (deceased). "SEMI SKINNER".

SOLD ALAN WOOD. "CANUCK".

A brand new model from Alan ! His variation of the classic Grohmann/D.H.Russell Belt Knife, this combines the handle shape with a  'semi-skinner' blade (as opposed to the leaf shape of the original) that raises the point and give more belly for skinning. The steel is 12c27, with a brushed finish and the handle is nicely figured Spalted Beech with red liners. Fittings are bronze with a central mosaic pin. Blade: 3-1/2 inches. Oal: 8-1/2 inches. Complete with a brown leather pouch sheath.

New from Maker.

SOLD PAT MITCHELL KNIVES. "Sportsman Collection - Model 574".

Described in their catalogue as  - "A rugged compact knife for hunting and field use, it will prove itself invaluable for all sportsmen".

Since the demise of Pat Mitchell Knives due to the passing of both Stuart Snr. (who actually made the knives) and his wife, Pat (who ran the business and whom it was named after) these knives have become sought after by Collectors and also those looking for a very good quality Handmade Sheffield knife - as opposed to one made in the Far East !

These knives keep a superb edge due to the SF77 high carbon stainless steel used by Stuart Snr. This particular knife is handled in a very attractive wood laminate, which was one of the handle options offered, and a brass guard and pins. The original sheath is missing but the knife comes with a high quality sheath similar to the original style. This is, without doubt, the best quality Pat Mitchell knife I have seen since their passing and whoever buys this will not be disappointed !

Blade: 4-1/4". Oal: 9".   As New condition.
